USPS

It has been brought to my attention the manager at the Liberty Lake Post Office, who is responsible for sorting the PO Box mail, is Legally Blind.  Yes… you read that correct.

When I made my weekly inquiry into why my clients have to call me and tell me my receivables have been returned to them … the gentleman behind the counter rolled his eyes and simply said… “my boss, who is responsible for sorting the PO BOX mail…. Is legally blind.”

When I asked if there was any other job the visually impaired person could do there at the post office instead of sorting the mail… I was told, simply “No.” But … If I could just “wait it out” she would be retiring soon.

In lieu of this development I will have all mail and correspondence sent to my physical address. Thank you to my clients who have been incredibly patient, I will be sending out an email with my updated contact card.

GREAT JOB DOMA!

taking a stand! read the DOMA blog to see what pushed them to the edge. DOMA had let a lot slide with oh-well eyerolls and “can you believe they claim that?” but too much is too much. this newest launch was 2 years in the making and I am proud to be a part of it! HANDCRAFTED SUSTAINABILITY!

just added this book to my wishlist. “Women” by Lillian Bassman with her best images from the pages of Harper’s Bazaar during its 1950s glory days.

thanks to Chris Dreyer for the Spokane Riverkeeper artwork. it made it easy for me to put together all the collateral for the Main Market launch. Posters, buttons, point of sale, postcards, table talkers, shelf talkers… Check out the video and better yet go pick up some GOOD COFFEE of your own. Oh, and while your at it buy a button! The vintage coffee pot on the red stripe is a personal fave.

Gray Coffee?

im working much of this week in seattle… i love it here. today i find myself downtown at the convention center. what a gorgeous building. filled with light and angles. when the sun came out for 3 minutes, i wanted to cry it was that beautiful.

back to the point of my post. gray coffee. i purchased a cup of coffee … gave it a quick smell test …. and came to the conclusion it would need doctoring. I opted for the fat free milk made available to us customers at the coffee bar. I could not mask the horror on my face … it was immediate. I have never seen the likes of such before. Is it burnt? Is it old? Is it in the roast or the blend or the producing partners? my mind reeled with terms and verbiage i have picked up around DOMA, but nothing helped. this is seattle, the birthplace of the split finned mermaid… not the twilight zone.

…so I added honey and drank it anyway.

I had an awesome work study student from a local highschool. so amazed by her artistic abilities. she wants to do snowboard graphics. I had her put together a job plan, mission statement, and brand… including logo, font style and color swatches. she did a wonderful job and above is the product. best of luck casey!
